The Dreaded Stocking...Attempt #3  FAILED!!!

This is how it still looks after going through the washer and dryer. Stretched beyond redemption.  Will someone please take me out of my misery!

IN MY DYE POT:

I learned how to dye by watching youtube videos and THIS ONE is my favorite.  And don't forget to watch PART TWO.

But this past week, after being inspired by the article, Spinning Pleasantly Plump and Silky Singles by Judith Macenzie, in the Spring 2010 issue of Spin Off Magazine, I got into more detail and watched The Art of Fiber Dyeing with Sandy Sitzman and Fiber Dyeing: Immersion and Painting of Protein Fibers with Deb Menz.

And I turned this

NATIONAL ALPACA FARM DAYS - We visited High Meadow Alpaca Farm in Leiper's Fork.  Check out these cuties!

IN OUR WINEGLASS:

A nice moderately priced Chardonnay from Cupcake Vineyards.  "Decadent flavors of butter cream, bright citrus and vanilla melt into a balance of oak and subtle spice.  In other words: Sinful.  In my opinion, the citrus is the standout flavor."  Although they are present, I would like to taste more of the butter cream, vanilla and oak.

And finally..."The Don"  Your voice will be missed, however guys like Rick will enjoy the extra work.

Rick Gets Crazy With The Special Effects

Rick got a new special effects toy and decided to try it out on our podcast.  Just keep an open mind.

ON MY NEEDLES:

I cast on for my plain jane sock with a not so plain jane yarn Koigu KPPPM in P122 colorway.  Oooh!  It's so squishy!

Finished the back and knitting up the front of my Pink Frosting.

And finally found a yarn I can use for the King Kong stocking!  Will be castng on for that this week.

Let me clarify, Rick is not a knitter.  "On The Needles" to him means, what is "On His Plate"  He was just signed with the Heyman Talent Agency and now has samples of his voice demos on their website.  It's a little tricky to search so we will post his website as soon as it is up and running this week.

ON MY NEEDLES...Pink Frosting by Elissa Sugishita from Interweave Crochet Spring 2006

JUST OFF MY WHEEL...8 oz. of sage green Merino/Silk I just finished spinning up in a two ply.  It is by Louet, as I thought, but didn't say because I didn't want to have to take it back if I was wrong. : ) The color is Lichen.

The Fiber Action Cooperative put on the wonderful Anything Fiber Yard Sale in Black Mountain, NC in August.  I hope you can make it next year... Just not before me!

One of my favorite magazines Living Crafts Magazine.  Check it out!  It really has something for every crafter.
