In A World With "The Don"

Listen to Show #5 Here!

Thank you to EVERYONE who left comments or sent emails this past week.  We were really overwhelmed, flattered and humbled by the response.  We hope to continue to  hear from you all on a regular basis.

So if anyone perhaps didn't comment and they really did want a tick, here's the website where you may order your own.

ON MY NEEDLES:
Working on the heel flap of my super simple sock pattern with a not so plain jane yarn Koigu KPPPM in P122 colorway. Pattern is a download on ravelry.

The Dreaded Stocking...Attempt #3  FAILED!!!

This is how it still looks after going through the washer and dryer. Stretched beyond redemption.  Will someone please take me out of my misery!

IN MY DYE POT:

I learned how to dye by watching youtube videos and THIS ONE is my favorite.  And don't forget to watch PART TWO.

But this past week, after being inspired by the article, Spinning Pleasantly Plump and Silky Singles by Judith Macenzie, in the Spring 2010 issue of Spin Off Magazine, I got into more detail and watched The Art of Fiber Dyeing with Sandy Sitzman and Fiber Dyeing: Immersion and Painting of Protein Fibers with Deb Menz.

And I turned this

And this

Into THIS!

NATIONAL ALPACA FARM DAYS - We visited High Meadow Alpaca Farm in Leiper's Fork.  Check out these cuties!

IN OUR WINEGLASS:

A nice moderately priced Chardonnay from Cupcake Vineyards.  "Decadent flavors of butter cream, bright citrus and vanilla melt into a balance of oak and subtle spice.  In other words: Sinful.  In my opinion, the citrus is the standout flavor."  Although they are present, I would like to taste more of the butter cream, vanilla and oak.

And finally..."The Don"  Your voice will be missed, however guys like Rick will enjoy the extra work.

Thanks everyone for listening!

As a tribute to Don LaFontaine, here is the new promo for The Knit Wits

See you next week!

  1. Awesome episode! I love when you talk about the King Kong Stocking. You speak for all of us who have frogged, screamed and nearly burned projects done against our free will that try on sanity. Keep up the good work!

  2. I must say I LOVE your podcast its hilarious. You & your husband make a great team. Carin, you are a nicer person then me by now I would have buried that stocking in the back yard by now or told her sorry can't help you. But I do hope you eventually get it done so you can get back to your own knitting.

One of the things I love about living in Wa is the fact or wines vary in price range you can always find something good.

  3. My husband took me to Rockaway Beach today so I could knit and he could metal detect. It was so damn cold I ended up in the car but luckily I had my iPod with me and your podcasts were on it. I listened to two and a half of them consecutively and had a ball! I was knitting a scarf and laughing in a car sitting by myself. The people of Beach 124 in Rockaway must think I'm nuts but I really enjoyed listening. I'm off to download the most recent episodes so I can see what's happening with the King Kong sock.

  4. Yay! I found more mundane work to do today and listed to another episode (see comment on previous episode. Mundane work for me = podcast listening time!) I love the fiber you dyed in the picture above. So, so pretty.

  6. I feel your pain on the $7,000.00 bill from the dentist. I have over $6,000.00 worth of work in mine and I didn't even get the 14 implants that they wanted to give me. Yikes!

  7. I'm over a year behind but because of your podcast I picked up a bottle of Chardonnay from Cupcake Vineyards!

EEK such a pretty bottle, and the wine-oh so wonderfully sweet!
